Nokia Series 40 iSync plugin
Background
I have used a script I have written to generate an iSync Plugin (MetaClasses.plist) for getting your nokia series 40 phone to work with iSync 2.4 and iSync 3.0 (Note: this doesn’t work for 3.1!!!!)
This script has been tested on a number of nokia mobiles and proven to work, other series 40 phones, if you download a plugin and find try it out please add a comment with your findings so we can keep everyone upto date.
These plugins will only work when connecting your mobile Via bluetooth!
note: Where better plugins have become available I have replaced my plugin with a link to the relevant external site (good example being the 6500 Classic).
Installation Instruction
- Right click iSync from the with applications in the finder and “show package contents”
- Navigate to: ContentsPluginsApplePhoneConduit.syncdeviceContentsPluginsNokia-6131.phonepluginContentsResources
!!! make a backup of MetaClasses.plist !!!
- replace contents of MetaClasses.plist with the relevant iSync plugin (text file downloaded from here)for your nokia mobile!

Testing the 8600 Plugin, no luck
7500 Prism plugin syncronizes only SIM memory contacts, NOT telephone memory contacts – iCal seems to be OK
I was able to sync address book contacts on my 6126. Thanks!
I’ve just tried a Nokia 6020 and had no success. iSync 2.4 could not find the device – the Add Device dialog box says “no device found”.
The Michael, Just checked and the 6020 has no Bluetooth.
I have gone through and removed all the phones that dont have bluetooth support, and added links to the remaining phones spec on nokia.com
Used on 6500 & 7500. Worked fine, thanks very much!
hi james many thanks but isync plugin for 6500 does not seem to work with the 6500 slide ?
cheers
Jimbo
2865i (from MetroPCS) shows “this device is not supported by iSync” over BT, but isn’t recognized at all over USB.
The 6275i does NOT work.
The phone lacks the SyncML service, which means that it is significantly different from most other Series 40 phones, and AFAIK iSync requires SyncML to work.
Hi,
The NOKIA 6233 Script works fine, but there seems to be a bug in apple mail when handling with todo’s created on other devices or just in iCal. After the sync was finished apple mail didn’t work anymore. I found the following thread dealing with the same problem and was able to fix the problem by deleting the todo’s that had been transferred from my mobile:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5860690
Conclusion: The script is perfect! (I hope apple will soon fix the mentioned bug…but it’s not too evil
Why two entries for the 6131? I tried the second one, and it works fine. They both link to the same txt file and the same specs on the nokia site. any difference in the code?
Well spotted, I was waiting for someone to point that out ,,,
. Ok my mistake, yes the code was the same for both.
FYI, fixed 6500 Nokia spec link. For some reason the 6500 doesn’t conform to their naming convention.
THANKS! I just got my Nokia 6500 Classic and it worked! It’s so nice to see that even though I had to purchase the phone from overseas, there are those who want sync to work regardless!
Thankyou James,
After some trial and error as a complete novice I worked out the Metaclasses.plist file needed to be opened as a text file to be edited.
Once I worked that out your script works great! Able to sync contacts on a new 6500c… If you’re ever in Sydney I wanna shout you a beer!!!
works great with Nokia 6151.
Thank you, works like a breeze for the Nokia 6500 Classic!
I’ve had problems with 6500 slide, but 3109c works fine. thanks for sharing.
Yes the slide doesn’t work. Its difficult to debug all the phones when I only have a 6085.
But the phones in green at the top do work, and in yellow may work but people havn’t told me.
calendar synchronisation works just dandy with my 6500 classic. for some reason it will only synchronise contacts that are assigned to a group on the phone, seems very strange, any ideas? thanks for sharing!
Hey James, I found the solution to the 6500 slide problem here:
http://www.disappearhere.com/?p=115
Cheers Phil have added a link under the 6500 to the your link!.
Hello, works fine with iSync & Nokia 6500c! Thank you very much!!!
Does not work with 5610
Hello,
I tested with Nokia 2660 and iSync said “this device is not supported by iSync”… Maybe is my mistake, I don’t know. Is there anything I can do to provide a better feedback? Thank you anyway!
Hello
I just got a Nokia 6500 Classic and want to sync only the contacts from the Address Book on my Mac Book Pro. Is this possible with your script ?? Also, I dont fully understand the installation instructions – I can locate the file but dont understand how to replace it with your plugin – when I click on your plugin, I just get text in Safari and dont know what to do from there
Thanks in advance for your help
Mark
Works fine with the 3110 classic. I used the 3109 metalist, placed it in the 6131 folder, and did a find/replace on “3109″ with “3110″ in the metalist file itself.
It’s jsut sync’d perfectly with my MBP, and N95.
Not surprisingly, Nokia Multimedia transfer tool doesn’t recognise it.
I just bougth a Nokia 6085, it didn’t work with iSync (Tiger 10.4.11). Trying to find a solution I got to your website and used your script, and it works !! both iSync and iCal.
It’s fantastic my friend!
Thanks a lot!
I just wonder if it will work with Leopard. Has anybody tried it?
Yes I have works great with iSync 3.0 (Leopard)
Hi James,
thx very much for your work, but how do i replace the content of the original metaclasses with the txt file I downloaded from your site. I have a nokia 6500c.
sorry it was simple…just opened with the wrong app.
Thanks again
The plugin seems to work with the Nokia 6234. But the memory on the 6234 fills pretty quickly – mine couldn’t even get past 500 contacts.
Hi and thanks for this, however…
I might be being completely stupid but I cannot get the 6500 script to work.
Can you give a step by step instruction for the “replace the contents of MetaClasses.plist” bit, because whatever I do, it just dosen’t seem to work.
Sorry to be such a noob, but I’m desperate here!
Thanks, Andy
here is the key for the 5310. I tried and it works :
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060404013821717
I was able to adapt this to my new Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phone!
I used the updated instructions above (“Creating your own iSync Phone Plug-in for OS X 10.4.9 iSync 2.4″ http://www.macosxhints.com/comment.php?mode=view&cid=86309 ), except for the following little change:
In the MetaClasses.plist file described in the mentioned comment, add the string “XpressMusic” to the line
Nokia Nokia 5310
. After adding the string, this line becomes
Nokia Nokia 5310 XpressMusic
This seems to be needed or iSync will not recognise the 5310.
Ahh annd the best: Even Address Book images get synchronised as with S60 phones!
The only thing I’m still missing but haven’t seem on any phone (except probably the iPhone) yet is a syncing of address groups to my nokia phone.
I wonder if there is a public API that could help in implementing this.
Cheers,
Simon

HEy,
installed 6500c plugin worked after 4th retry,
(had an empty space from editing the plist first,
then forgot to quit isync so a sfety backup would appear and keep the new plist from functioning)
but did not sync phonenumbers, calendars worked fine…
I checked merge data
made a new group in adress book,
called it phone and synced it, with no result.
then, i don´t know how,
isync did not show the merge or erease checkbox anymore…
i tried to sync anyway and my numbers are gone:(
any idea about recovery options?
best greetings

Nokia 6301
Just tried the plug in with a new 6301 and it worked perfectly. Thanks very much for your work on this.
Nokia 6267 works just fine!!!!
Tanks a lot for sharing!!!!
Just tried it with Nokia 6085.
Works first time without a hitch.
Brilliant. Many thanks.
BB
It works for my Nokia 3110 classic. I used 3109 plugin and exchanged every 3109 to 3110 in the file and put this file into 6131 family folder as written in instruction. I used only calendar synchronization, but I think it should also work for Address Book. Thanks James !
Big thanks James,
simple, clear instructions – worked perfectly first time. Brand new Nokia 6500c on Orange with Mac osX 10.4.11 & iSync 2.4; address book & calender all synch’d.
Genius – especially as apple, who I have found to VG @ this sort of thing, dont have this phone as compatible…
happy Christmas
jamie
just tried the 6500 classic sync.
went like clockwork, apart from birthdays not being transferred.
great stuff
thx
James
Just installed your patch for my Nokia 6500c and it works like a dream. Thanks for yout hard work – much appreciated!
The 5310 script works when completed with Fifibrindacier’s hack. Coool work, dudes!
5610 seems not to work
JOhn or fifibrindacier, could anyone of you post a link to the 5310 script? I tried the same for the 5610, but it won’t work. Basically both phones should have the same OS. Thanks.
Nokia 3109 classic works perfectly. Thank you very much!
Hello,
I just receive a Nokia 2630 and was realy sad to not be able to sync it to my ical (macos x 10.4.11 isync 2.4).
And with your plugin it works !
It’s a realy great stuff ! Thanks a lot
With all my gratitude !

I am wanting to be able to surf the web on my MacBook Pro through Nokia 2865i. Will your script allow me to do that? I have MetroPCS for a carrier and they told me (after a very long hold time) that it was not supported. I don’t mind if its slow, but I gotta get access when I am mobile. Suggestions?
Thx,
Nick@Nite
Not at all this is specifically for being able to use iSync with your nokia phone, so just the syning of calendar and contacts. To be able to use the phone as a modem you would need to check the settings when pairing the phone via bluetooth. Though I have never done this.
Help. I’m a real novice at this… can you give me some advice about how I make the text file above a .plist file?!
Help!
rename the file in a texteditor
Works like a charm for me with the Nokia 6500 classic.
Good explanations, easy to follow.
Thanks !
Wow. This worked with my new 6500c first time, as described. Completely. Thank you.
This also ran on the 6300 no problem first time around. thanks again.
Hi,
I have encountered a problem using iSync with the Nokia 6085 and an old iBook. The iBook is running 10.4.11, iSync 2.4 and is equipped with an SE bluetooth dongle.
I am able to pair the phone with the computer and can browse the Nokia 6085 via the Bluetooth Prefence Menu, putting on extra ringtones and so forth.
I downloaded the iSync plugin here and set up the Nokia 6085 in iSync, but all attempts in syncing fail:
The iSync log shows the following error message:
12:33:28 Error [Nokia 6085] There was an error getting data from the phone. The synchronization may have been cancelled on the phone.
12:33:28 Error Device “Nokia 6085″ synchronization failed
Whereas the phone diplays: Sync failed. …. Unable to process all items. ..
Any hints?
thks, aki
I used the 6500 and 6300 script and they both worked fine for me.
Thanks for the scripts.

hey in fact it doesn’t work as good as it seemed.
I can sync, i can send sms with addressbook, and receive call with addressbook, but i don’t receive the sms on the computer …
does someone know why ?
The plugins here are for using iSync , the other features you mention dont use it.
ow okay … so i’ve seen there’s a similar file for adressbook in his package : /Contents/Resources/Telephony.bundle (which is also a package) -> /Contents/Resources/ABDeviceCommandSets.plist
I’ll try to change something in this one to make it work with sms incoming. If someone else want to try …
Ans so, i’m sorry your file works perfectly !
Just tested this on my Nokia 2630 and it works like a charm. You sir a legend, thank you very much..
I have a Nokia 6500c and a brand new macbook with Leopard on it. Have followed the instructions and now iSync recognises my phone, and attempts to sync with it. The calendar syncs however the address book does not. Any solutions? Am i doing anything wrong?
A 2865i (through Alltel) gives a “This device is not supported through iSync” message.
Just tried the 7390 plug in and it worked perfect on my Nokia 7390. Have a mac mini running Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)! Thanks!
Nokia 5610 doesn’t work, as mentioned above.
If there’s something new available that’ll work, please mail me.
Thanks.
Nokia Classic 6500 – Manage to sync Calendar but not Contacts – All contacts deleted from my phone though. Is there a solution? Thanks!
Hi James,
nice work there. Basic sync works excellent.
After having worked with the phone for some time now, I’ve found a few glitches when syncing my 6500 classic with iSync under Leopard (haven’t tried other versions though).
The problems only occur when syncing back, i.e. contacts have been transmitted to the phone and, some time later, I’m syncing again. At this point, iSync reports contacts would have changed:
1. Company names seems to get deleted
2. German umlauts in Notes seem to be converted somehow (e.g. an ‘ä’ converts to a two characters: ‘Ãø’ (the latter appears to be an o over an x; ‘ü’ converts to ‘Ã1/4′ where ‘1/4′ is one character.
3. Display type seems to get deleted (has been ‘person’ or ‘company’, empty after syncing back)
4. Long notes appear to be truncated.
5. Birthdays seem to get deleted.
6. Job titles seem to get deleted.
7. Images seem to get deleted!
I think it’s fine if the phone doesn’t support certain fields but they should not be overwritting/modified/deleted when syncing back.
Thanks for any help. Drop me a note if I can be of any help figuring out what goes wrong there.
Oh, and happy new year!
Cheers,
-Hans
2630. Worked immediately with iSync 2.4, may many thanks!
Tested with 6133 – iSync 2.4. One-way sync of Contacts, from Mac to Phone. Calendar works both ways.
Been using 6500 classic plugin for 1 month now. Worked well initially but now has created duplicate appointments on other nearby days. A lot of pain to correct. Will wait for official.
I have tried and tried but I cannot get the 6085 plug in to work under Leopard. I opened the existing MetaClasses.plist with DashCode, highlighted all the original text, pasted over it with yours, saved and quit. When I launch iSync it tells me “iSync cannot connect to this device” for my phone. I feel pretty dumb reading everyone else’s immediate easy success… any tips?
hi,
tested 7390 pluggin ( not tested version ), and it works great… Calendar and Fone book.
thanks you …
hap’psy new year 008 to all
cheers from switzerland….
I just tryed the plugin on a nokia 2630 with iSync 3.0 in Leopard and it works like a charm.
Thanks for the great plugin, it’s really cool!
When syncing to my 6085, the sync only seems to work with a group called “AddressBook” in Mac Address Book. If I change the group’s name to “PhoneBook” or similar, the sync fails. No big – easy enough to work around – thank you very much for this plugin!
Check that – it actually seems that it will only sync with a particular group once. If I rename the group, or choose a different group, it syncs normally. Switching to a different group seems to require unpairing both the phone and the computer, removing the phone from iSync, then repairing and reinstalling the phone to iSync. Any ideas as to why?
6500 classic:
Hi, I had the same problem with the 6500 classic. I installed the script fine but it only syncs calendar. The contacts don’t get synced. Is it trying to sync contacts from the phone to the mac address book? or the other way round ?
thanks
Thanx for the excellent work.
Works great with my Nokia 6500 classic.
I instantly postet your instructions (translated for all the german MacUsers) on http://www.macuser.de.
No need to mention, that I refered to you Website…
Again, excellent work. Thanx A LOT!
Best regards from Germany

Sorry! I’ve never tried to do anything like this before. I do not know how to “replace the contents” of the metaclasses.plist with the plug in. Could someone please tell me how to do that?
Thank You!
I’m trying this again. Has anyone gotten this to work on a Nokia 2865i??
-Jeff
I used it for my 5300 and it worked great, thank you so much
Robert
Just had a note from Svein at disappearhere.com who has pointed out the error to the 6500 Slide plugin. I have updated the link to point to the correct page now.
http://www.disappearhere.com/?p=163
Used the plugin for Nokia 6500 classic…. works perfect and was so simple to install.
Great plugin. Thanks for the great help.
This works just like a charm with my Nokia 2630. Big thanks!
Great jop, James! Very helpful, thanks a million! I have a brand-new Nokia 3110 Classic here and followed above with the MetaClasses.plist file given for Nokia 3109. Simply replaced all 3109 with 3110 in the file with TestEdit. Contacts are syncing perfectly now, didn’t test Calender entries.
Thanks, James. Plug-in for Nokia 5310 XpressMusic works with iSync 3.0 on Leopard for both contacts and calendar. I put the plug-in into Library/PhonePlugins. No bugs detected so far. You have obviously already changed the plug-in to include the string “Nokia Nokia 5310 XpressMusic” as suggested by fifibrindacier. Thanks very much
Hi, it sounds great, but
I am so dissapointed. It does not work on my pm with mac os x 10.4.11. and isync 2.4. also the Software PhoneDirector can download and upload anything on my Nokia 7390. but i want to do it with isync…
any ideas?
thnks a bunch james
o lovin this
6500 classic now synced wit compter
and now contacts on ipod touch cheers
This great with the Nokia 2630 – but everyone already knew that..
.. so thanks, James!
I own a mac, and I wad NOT going to re-enter all my saved contacts (from the Mac) into my new phone!
And the only reason I got this particular phone was the
low-cost BlueTooth iSync plugin combination.
So I guess ol’ Apple Inc and Nokia should also sit up and take note of this solution.
Great work, James.
Nokia 6102i works, but you have to change some of the code from,(family.com.nokia.series40.3rdEd.bus.bt) to, (family.com.nokia.series40.bus.bt) the reason being, is that the 6102i is a 2nd edition phone and if not changed you will in turn, get the error message “no authorization” on the phone and iSync will report that it can’t push data to the phone unless this line of code is changed. This could also be a problem for those of you who are trying to sync with other Nokia versions. Be sure to check to see what series and edition your phone is. Here is the website that I found where I was able to decipher this information. Any suggestion or need help post it and I would be more than happy to help
.

6085 working here with Leopard! THX a lot!
Sync with Ical and my new 2630 and it works. I love it. James, you prove that it is possible. Why does Apple and Nokia won’t support this????
Nokia 3110c users: THIS DOES WORK! I spent ages trying to get it to sync with my macbook pro without success; it would sync the calendar, but contacts would sync 44 of 56 and then the phone would reset itself. Solution: Clear the phone memory for the first isync…. Make sure you back up any Contacts to the Sim Card, Select: Use Phone Memory, and delete all contacts. Then commence with isync and it works. Please persevere because once sorted this is great, and well done James, you deserve some recognition for helping us all!
Sorry but forgot to mention, I used the 3109 plugin. Thanks again James!
Hi,
I’m trying to sync my 6500 slide with my macbook (running leopard). I’m a total novice, and have tried and tried, but it just isn’t working! Is there any really clear step-by-step guide out there?
It’s frustrating to know it can work, but I can’t do it!
From above comments – looks like you can work magic James.
Thanks, C
Hi James,
Like a few 6500 classic owners here, I can only manage to Sync calendars. Phone numbers were not synced from the phone to Addressbook, but only from Addressbook to Sync, though the phone sync progress shows them being synced. In addition, multiple entries were created when syncing (from Addressbook to phone). Syncing calendars worked well though.
iSync 3.0, Leopard 10.5.1

NOKIA 2630 users, THIS WORKS LIKE A CHARM¡¡¡ thanx a lot James. Keep up the good work¡¡
Hi,
I have used your plugin for my Nokia 6500 Classic, and it has been working perfect untill I updated my phones software. My current and new phone software is version 04.84.
The problem occurs after sending 4-5 contacts. Then iSync tells me that an error occured while syncronizing and that the phone might have disconnected the connection.
Have you heard of this problem and do you know how to fix it?
Thanks
Ulrik
I just used your fix to isync my MacBook running Leopard with my new Nokia 6500 classic.
In a world where everything is complicated, your instructions were perfectly simple, and the fix worked!
Thank you.
P
Looks like the Calendar Issue on the 6500 is somthing to do with your firmware version. Again appologies for not being able to test this my self, I only have a 8800 and a 6085 to test with.
If anyone can provide further info would be much appreciated, 11,000 visits to this page is quite staggering & flattering.
Worked perfectly on a 2630 – thanks, you are a legend.
Thanks for setting up this resource, I was beginning to feel a bit lost. I have replaced the MetaClass.plist as directed with the plug in for the Nokia 6301 which shows up in finder simply as a web location. I’m not understanding something, I have tried opening the file which is a txt file of code but don’t know what to do with it or how the file is activated. I can find no information in isync on how to add plug ins.
Any help would be gratefully received
iBook G4 OSX.4.11 iSync 2.4 Nokia 6301

ahhh….
I’m forgetting, I have a nokia 2630!

The Nokia 6822 Plugin works fine! thanks for this.
Thanks a lot. The plug in worked for Nokia 2760 perfectly !!
Thanks for Nokia 6500 classic plug-in. Synchronized 1500 contacts calendar. Worked beautifully. Two remarks: 1) the comment field in the OSX address book is truncated once transferred in the Nokia (would it be possible to lift this limitation ?) – 2) in the calendar, full day events appear in the Nokia as an event with variable times (sometimes 6am, very often 1pm).
All the best
Philippe
Hi,
I try to install the plugin for my Nokia 2630. I’m working in Leopard with iSync 3.0.
I followed the install instructions as described at the beginning of this page but I’m not able to finish them. This is my problem :
The instructions say “Right click iSync from the with applications in the finder and “show package contents”. Navigate to: Contents\Plugins\ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice\Contents\Plugins\Nokia-6131.phoneplugin\Contents\Resources”
I can navigate to Contents\Plugins\ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice\Contents\Plugins\ but Nokia-6131.phoneplugin is not a directory. This file can only be opened with the application iSync Plug-in Maker which is installed on my system.
I was not able to change the content of the file MetaClasses.plist.
I’m new to MacOSX and I don’t know what I can do to install the plugin.
Can someone help me out? Probably I’m doing something wrong but I cannot figure out what.
Koenraad welcome to mac os x, im sure like me you’ll be a convert!
I think you should be able to right click the plugin and do another “show package contents”. This should let you navigate the files within.
Hi, I have fixed the 8600 Luna iSync profile, well on mine this works anyhow
The problem is that the phone is not actually called “8600″ but “8600 Luna” so I changed the following lines:
Identification
com.apple.cgmi cgmm
Nokia Nokia 8600 Luna
com.apple.gmi gmm
Nokia Nokia 8600 Luna
com.apple.usb.vendorid-modelid

Hi James,
Your tip has worked. I can now synchronize perfectly with my Nokia 2630.
Thanks a lot or all the work.
All the best,

Hi James,
Bought 5310 Express Music, followed your installation advise, did work fine to get contacts on it but crashed seconds after. I can not revive it.
Anybody knows where to get IMET list, noticed difference in IMET number on sticker and one you call by *#06#. Apparently digits in place 7 and 8 denote country of manufacture and list names the country. For Nokia Finland should be 00, China 02 and so on.
Many thanx
Ivan
Hi,
Ive tried the plugin with my 2630 and OSX 10.4.11.
It comes up visible in iSync, but it will sync a different amount of contacts every time.
I’ve even shortened my list right down to just include the 200 or so phone numbers i need in there but it seems to be getting stuck on something.
I’ve reset the phone a couple of times, rebooted the computer etc and tried again.
I’d love to find out what the problem is. It seems to work so well for a minute then hangs
Cheers
Jules
Hi
Nokia 6500c
isync ver 3.0 leopard
It seems to work for alot of users but did not work for me.
Phone error messagae says “Data transfer not possible. Check data connection.”
Alert from isync says ” There was an error getting data from the phone. The synchronization may have been canceled on the phone.”
any idea what’s wrong?
Appreciate your help!!
having problems with the 6301 starts to sync no probs, but then gives this message:
Tuesday, 29 January 2008 15:09
[Funksoulbrother] There was an error getting data from the phone. The synchronization may have been canceled on the phone.
Device “Funksoulbrother” synchronization failed.
didn’t touch the phone at all, any ideas??
Is there still no support for usb connections with this script? I need to update my plan and am looking at either the Nokia 6085 or the 6555 and would really like to continue syncing on my Mac Pro, with no bluetooth.
Thanks!
Presently there is no solution for USB, however if you find a working USB plugin for a noki series 40 phone you should be able to edit it. As I have done here.
Nokia 5610 plugin doesn’t work. Can you please give me the process in detail??
Hi James,
great work you’re doing here…I’ve just bought a nokia 6301 and have followed your advice…not entirely sure that when it comes to replace the Metaclasses list that I’ve put the new script in the right place, as its still not working ( Isync cannot link to the phone, I’m using a Macbook 10.4.11)
Can you help ?
Thanks
Goodmoring James,
Works like a charm for my brand new 2630
Thanks for the good work.
Marcel.
this is great, and ahead of Nokia
I followed your instructions for download and replacement but face two problems:
1- I get to the content of my iSync package but there are no plugins whatsoever, only a folder named plugins, and there is no metaclasses.plist files anywhere in the content folder or on my Mac for that matter???
2- when I select the pluging for the 6500 on your page, I get a new page with code… not a file?
So, what am I doing wrong? What should I do?
I am planing to buy a 6500 but only if I can sync it with my Mac…
thanks for your help,
cheers from Paris
Hello,
seems to be great work!
Du you have any idea how to tell iSync for a series 40 phone to store the contact name not as surname space name but as name comma space surname?
Maybe there is an option to the vCard-Parser? Or any other option to do some “scripting” inside the iSync-process?
Regards,
Ingo
Plugin for Nokia 6288 works!
it works in Nokia 2660! But u must reopen the isync.
Thank’s
Well, it took me a while to understand how to proceed with this… so I though that I should share my findings
INSTALATION INSTRUCTIONS IN MORE DETAILS… for those, like me, who didn’t get it right away
– First: click on the link to the pluging for your phone. A new page will open with text (code). Select all and copy the content of this page (It is now on your computer’s clip board).
– Then: right click (ctrl click) iSync from within the applications’ folder in the finder and choose: “show package contents”
– Navigate to: Contents\Plugins\ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice\Contents\Plugins
\Nokia-6131.phoneplugin\Contents\Resources
- MAKE A BACK UP OF MetaClasses.plist and put it in a safe place
– Then right click (ctrl click) on the MetaClasses.plist file and choose: “open with/other” and choose “TextEdit” (You should now see the content of the MetaClasses.plist file as a text (code) file. Much like the one from the pluging link you copied to the clipboard). Do a “select all”, “delete” and then “paste” to replace the contents of MetaClasses.plist file with the relevant iSync plugin for your Nokia mobile! SAVE your changes and quit TextEdit.
Now you can open iSync and set up your phone by choosing “add device” in the menu bar
Just bought Nokia 2630 !
Installed your plugin & it worked like a charm in a macbook Core Duo with Leopard 10.5.1 .
Both addressbook & ical!!
Thanks man YOU ARE THE BEST!!
KEEP WALKING!!!
James
Using 6500c and 10.4.11 on a Macbook intel.
Excellent instructions but only syncing calender not contacts.
Any ideas?
Worked fine with my nokia 6500classic, but unfortunately pics from the adressbook aren’t synced, too? any idea how to fix that? thx
hey – i have a small problem with my 2630:
contacts with long names of a city have a word-wrap in the middle of the name when you look at them on your cell phone. after synchronising i have this line-wrap in my mac os x addressbook as well! and because its not the same isync adds a second address for those contacts. help!
I suspect these anomolies are caused by the phone reformating the entry, also with the calendar sync issues. These could be the reason why the main stream support for extra phones using iSync isnt so great. Note though that 10.5.2 is out today and includes iSync updates (officially for 2 samsung phones, but wouldnt be surprised if there is further updates included).
Works great on a nokia 6085 with leopard 10.5.2
thank you
it does work for nokia 6500c
thx for that!!!!!!
Hi, James,
I use Nokia6500c phone,
I read most of sharing from everyone, but I still can’t make it correct,
I have same question as another guy.
he mentioned
” 1- I get to the content of my iSync package but there are no plugins whatsoever, only a folder named plugins, and there is no metaclasses.plist files anywhere in the content folder or on my Mac for that matter???
2- when I select the pluging for the 6500 on your page, I get a new page with code… not a file?
So, what am I doing wrong? What should I do?
I have same situation, problem.
Can you please teach me how to do it?
Thank you
George
Hello! I feel like very strange person here, because everybody says it works great with Nokia 6500c… but not for me. Its synchronize for the first time 2nd, 3rd time well, but than it started to report errors and won’t synchronize at all. Also there was a confusion with time of events… I don’t know, I run Leopard iSync 3.0. Please help!!! I really like to keep this phone.
It works with my Nokia 2630….. Great…. How did you do that……COOL!!!!!!!Im gonna tell it to myfriends who have this phone and a mac…
Hi James,
I got this to work with my Nokia 6301 under Tiger, but since the Leopard came to town I can only sync calendar items – the phone book is empty.
Perhaps my installation method is wrong – I copied the 6131 plugin, made the changes, then renamed it as a 6301 plugin. iSync recognised it immediately and synced, except that it always says the phone cancelled synchronisation. Should I follow your installation method?
Pending some resolution I have changed phones for now, but I’d like to get back to the 6301.
Thanks
can someone tell me why the nikia 5310 xpress music PC suit software cd will not start up on a MAC? thanx
Trying hard not to sound sarcastic, perhaps its becuase its a PC Suite, not a MAC Suite.
Worked perfectly with Nokia 6233. Many thanks!
It’s a shame Apple can’t include support for these devices as standard so that it “just works”.
True but I think Mac OSx success comes from only providing support for a limited number of pieces of hardware, so they can maximise performance etc. Not every man/card/phone and his dog like windows.
you are a legend man. thank you so much. 2630 works like a charm!
your nokia series 40 isync plugin works perfectly !! many thanks BUT I did not check that all calendars were selected, including holidays, etc. This makes my Nokia 3109 full of dates in bold characters, when I prefer to limit iCal sync with just my personal events, like I do with my other Nokia 6111
How can I delete all the Nokia 3109 events, and then re-sync from my MacBook Pro ?
Regards, Patrick.
thanks a lot
Hi James, your Nokia 5310 plug-in worked fine to send data to the phone from iCal and Address Book. Unfortunately I have the same problem as Hans Ziegler on 1st Jan in that when I sync again the phone wants to delete stuff in my Address book and move fields around. Any ideas? Love Harry xxx
Sorry, forgot to mention that I have just updated to 10.5.2 Wonder if that has anything to do with it? Love harry xxx
Tested the 6300 Plugin : worked very well !!! (used 10.5.2)
thanks!!!
Works fine with 3110 classic, thanks!
Brilliant!
It worked excellent with Nokia 6500 and MacBook.
Man thanks!
James you are nothing but sheer GENIUS! Thank you for your time, patience and kindness. I’m a total novice and the program was simple to apply. Thank you thank you thank you! Email me if you plan on visiting Manila! Regards!
Perhaps I’m being a complete retard, but followed all the steps (as kindly posted by Busker) but it seems I am still unable to isync my 6500 Classic? Any help/suggestions?!
Thank you!!
nokia 6275i still not working with this plugin..
thanks a lot
. works like a charm.
It’s working perfectly with my Nokia 6085.
Thanks James !
I downloaded and insatlled the plugin for the 6500c. It worked great the first time, but on subsequent syncs it tends to “double up” on some of my contacts.
I haven’t found a pattern yet but I’m leaning toward that it doubles contacts that have been edited AND also have a “company name” listed in the data.
Works with my new 2760.
Thank you so much!
RW
Used 6500 classic – worked fine! Thank you very much…
I’ve used the changes suggested from deanx above and I can confirm the plugin for Nokia 8600 Luna now works perfect! Thank you very much!
Thanks. Nokia 2630 works!!!
Nokia 7500. Works fine.
Nokia 2760 works! thank you

i am finding similar after using the plug in with my nokia 6500c and isync 3.0
it worked a treat the first time, but now locks up at contact 562 of 710 every time, even i’ve tried deleting a few cards etc
any advice welcome!
thank you very much!! worked perfect with my 7390!!
Hi James, I see you made a lot of iSync plugin script, I’m happy to see that. But it might be an idea to embed theme in a real plugin like this guy ( http://klauskjeldsen.dk/2007/06/08/free-nokia-6300-isync-plugin/ ) did with the nokia 6300 plugin I use. It is a bit easier install… just an idea?
Thanks
2630 works perfectly! Thanks a million!
Thanks!
Thanks so much! Worked flawlessy on my Nokia 2630.
Cheers!
I’ve compiled an installation package for Nokia 5310 XpressMusic plugin (http://pyxx.org/nokia-5310-xpressmusic-isync-plugin/). I used MetaClasses.plist generated by your script. Thanks a lot!
Thanks man,
works almost flawlessly on my Nokia 2630:D
Hi James,
I could get isyn3.0 to work for my Nokia 3109c on my macbook pro but not on my iMac. What could cause this?
Works flawlessly with 2630. Syncs named contact books and named iCal calendars.
I’ve just tried this for Nokia 6500 C, but it didn’t work for me??? It seems that all others with 6500 get it to work.
I’ve found the Metaclasses.plist opened it in textedit, replaced the text by copy-pasting the plugintext. and then saved it.
When I opens iSync and searching for new phone it can’t find it… Could be something about that it’s a danish phone and iSync edition?
I’ve had a similar problem to Soren with a Nokia 6500C. I copy-pasted the plugin text and saved it and was able to find my phone but not able to sync. Is there something I’m missing?
Thanks for the 6500c plugin. Was working like a dream but then started receiving errors like Giacomo in post 165.
Cheers.
I also dont get the 5310 to work with isync.
greets Sulfi
Thanks a lot! This works perfectly. Just replacing Contents\Plugins\ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice\Contents\Plugins
\Nokia-6131.phoneplugin\Contents\Resources\Metaclasses.plist by your script does the job. Now iSync can work with my mobile phone.
Rene
(MacOs X, Nokia2630)
Checked the 5310 Xpress Music and it works great! THANKS GUYS!!!
thanks it`s working with my nokia 2630
How does it works?
Can someone help me with my Nokia 6500 classic…
I’d tried the above but none works…
Thanks in advanced…
Works great!
MacBook + Nokia 3109 + Leopard 10.5.2 + iSync 3.0
Doesn’t work with the Nokia 6265i. I tried referring to it as 6265i and the 6265, but neither works.
It still doesnt work with my 1 month old 5310 musicexpress.
help
The plugin for the 2660 worked with iSync 3.0 THANKS!
Hey:-)
That’s great without any problems I just did it. Thanks mate – that’s cool:-)
I have a new Nokia 6555. I did as you said with “Show packet info” and navigated to the Nokia 6131 resources but when I opened the metaclasses.plist packet, it opened in OmniOutliner. How do I get the iSync plugin into the metaclasses.plist file?
Thanks! Eric
I have a Nokia 6500 classic and have tried everything, but cant get it to work with iSync. I did exactly as directed, and replaced the contents of that .plist file with the one liste above (simply copy and paste?), but when I try add the device to iSync it finds it but says “iSync cannot connect to this device” (almost as if I havent done a thing)? I used a similar patch/method to get my 6300 working that is perfect, no problems. Any ideas anyone?
I have a Nokia 2760 and I am trying to sync it with my mac (with Leopard on it). Can you help me to create this plug-in. I will really appreciate that you explain me like “dummy”. Thanks in advance.
Made the plug-in work with my 6500c, but when sync’ing, the phone stalls at 143 of 180 contacts – halts 1/2 minute and disconnects with the message “Data transfer not possible. Check data connection”. Maybe content in a particular record the sync does not like? I checked for special characters öäü etc. I have those all over – would that be an issue?
Sync’d perfectly with Nokia 2630 and isync 2.4 on OSX 10.4 after activating bluetooth on both phone and iMac then restarting. Reset all my material in Address Book, cleared all address data on the phone then opened isync and away we went.
Thanks very much James – a cold one waiting for you NZ.
The Nokia 6500 slide plugin worked a treat.
Thanks
Thanks so much!! I was pretty annoyed when iSync said ‘no support’ for my new 6267. Thanks to you, I’m now happy and I won’t be spending days entering data
Nokia 6310 has worked after a bit of fiddling about. I had to connect via the Bluetooth preferences first, iSync could not find the device at all.
Anyway working now and thanks very much!
Thanks for providing the plugins. However, instead of replacing the MetaClasses.plist, you should copy the appropriate plugin (e.g. Nokia-6131.phoneplugin) and replace the file therein. You can then place your copy at /Library/PhonePlugins/, which is part of the search list. To finish up, you could also replace the picture and various identifier string in your new plugin.
If you were to create such an improved plugin I would gratefully link to you assuming you fully documented it and provided 24×7x365 support.
I have so many negative comments, i normally just delete them but this time, the sarcasm escaped. Apologies.
A lot of thanks, thousands of thanks, the plugin run perfect on my 2630 and on my 6085, GENIAL!!!!
But I don’t understand why Nokia don’t give support to all their phones with iSync.
Thanks…..from Spain
Just been testing the 6301 with isync 3.0. I find that my “all day” items in ical get sent to the phone with a 01:00 start time, and a 13:00 finish (this is the same for multiday “all day” events. This is not so much of a problem, but… when I sync for a second time the ical calender is updated with these times too.
I have a 6300 too and don’t seem to have the same problem with the (it syncs with the time up to the phone, but does not mess up the calender on a subsequent sync).
Any ideas?
Nokia 6500 Classic. Works fine, all contacts have to be stored on the phone memory not to SIM card for them to sync though.
Hello,
I tried the Nokia 6275 and iSync 3.0 is unfortunately not working
6300 works – no problems! Thank you!!!
I have tried to set up your plug with a Nokia 2360 – on the first sync when pairing it works (i.e. after setting up via set up bluetooth device the contacts move across) – then when you try to “join network on nokia 2360″ in the blue tooth menu on the mac, the phone says it is connected and then almost immediately the mac book pro 10.4.11 Intel due core says “blue tooth network fails” am I doing something wrong?
Hello,
Brilliant stuff works on the 3110c with the 3109 replaced as 3110 and took a few times.
Nokia 6267 – many thanks!
Nokia 2630 – Works great!! Thanks!
does not seem to work with 2600 classic
Very clever lad, James. Works great with 6085. The ical notes didn’t seam to work not sure if that is a phone thing or the script. Other wise great thank you.
Works really great on my nokia 2630!! thanks!
6500 – worked perfectly first time. Great job. Many thanks.
tested the nokia 6111 plugin… worked like a charm with no probs whatsoever!
thanx loads!
Hi James, Darren here.
Do you remember we communicated a little while ago about the plugin for the 6500 slide? You were kind enough to refund me when it didn’t work and hanged when syncing contacts? You even called me up!
Anyway… I wonder if you have had any progress with this? The other 3rd party plugin that I notified you about (and you have since linked too) still hangs when syncing the address book, even though it does now sync the calendar with iCal.
I lost a load of contacts on my Mac when trying to find a solution to this and am still having no joy. I just wondered if you have had any updates your end?
If you could email me James, I would appreciate it very much!
Take care and thanks for your efforts
Darren
Nicely done indeed. Works great on my Nokia 2630.
THANKS
Hi!
I have tested with Nokia 6300 and it works fine.
I have a question. Is it possible to extend the script with a group sync too? It would be very useful for me.
Thanx
Ditrics
with the nokia 5610 only the calendar works
hey,
very cool, that is clever!!! but for my nokia 2630 it doesn’t work for me, is there something else i need ot do to the actual handset, i have it on blu took???
your assistnce is greatly appreciate
cheers
roxy
I tried the Nokia 2865i script and got the same message reported above: “This device is not supported by iSync”
tried nokia 6288 and works like a dream, can you point me in the right direction for a isync plugin for a nokia e65 e series ?
Thanks
Will
2760 Works fine! Thanks
script worked with nokia 2630 exactly as described. thanks
James, you rock!
I bought a Nokia 6085 so I could have a simple phone that sync’d with my iMac. Wasn’t happy when I learned that iSync did not support it, and Nokia did not provide a solution.
I was nervous about replacing the contents of the MetaClasses.plist, but I did it with TextEdit. And then iSync worked with my phone flawlessly!
Thank you thank you thank you thank you! And thanks again!

Specs:
Nokia 6085
PowerBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.5.2
iSync 3.0
i cant seem to download the plugin. The page is displaying a bunch of code. instead of links for the plugin. i need the one for 2630. thanks!
installed 0.2 for nokia 6500 classic – seemed to work perfectly on first sync. Thereafter it stops at record 131 of 176 every time and says there’s a problem with the connection to the 6500 – can’t be because it’s working up to that point. powerbook G4, OSX 10.4.11
Any help most gratefully received. Thanks, Mike
Hey, I did the 5310 and it worked perfectly the first time!! Only problem is, in subsequent synchings it freezes at contact number 56 an then aborts. The only solution to this is to erase all contacts on the phone and then re sync it. Anyone know a solution, or why this is happening?
Thanks!
hi! i’ve tried the plugin so isync recognize the phone, but at the moment of syncronization the progress bar stops and fails, so isync tells me that there’s been a problem with the connection and that the syncronization may be cancelled from the phone…
any solution? thanx!
Hi there!
Nokia 2660 tested and works fine, although I get some errors in Calendar with some weird characters.
Hi James,
Thanks very much for the plug-in. My phone, a 6234, is recognised and contacts and events sync.
There are just two anomalies occuring which are very odd.
1) All day events are shifted one day forward on my phone from the correct date in iCal. I can sync numerous times and the phone and iCal event will remain on disparate days. I’ve checked all my time settings & time zones match up, and am now stumped!
2) Some birthdays show in my phone calendar, and some don’t. It seems that the iCal birthday calendar makes recurring event from the persons date of birth. I have found a setting in the plugin (dontSyncEventBeforeDate)which says to ignore all events before 1980. Could this be the problem? I have tried to change the setting, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference?
Any ideas of suggestions gratefully received
Regard, Nicola
it took me a while to find out how to adapt a *.plist file (download PlistEdit Pro for fellow n00bs), but I’m glad I did. My Nokia 2630 has synced perfectly.
My next question would be why does Nokia not support this themselves??
Hey, I also used 3109.txt and adapted it for my new 3110c. Works well, however, is there any way to change the treatment of whole day events that are made in isync? On the phone they appear as from 2pm to 2pm…
thanks, Hannes
awesome
works with my 2630
thanx a lot!
fantastic. worked on Nokia 3109 Classic perfectly. thanks!
Thanks for your plugin. I am using the 6288 phone. it is the 5th plugin I have tried, but all give me the same error message:”data transfer not possible: check data connection”. the message appears just after all contacts have beed read and then syncronization is stopped.
do you perhaps have any idea what is wrong?
I am sing tiger 10.4.11 and isync 2.4.
On windows over paralles on the same mac syncronization works with no problem.
would appreciate your help.
Hi James
I got a 6085 as a replacement phone (for my 6102, which I adored) and I hate it so much, but your plugin just made my life a whole lot brighter!
Worked perfectly. It took a little reading of other people’s comments – like, metaclasses.plist is a text file, and you have to open it in text edit, not omni outliner, which is what wants to open it. These were minor bumps on the road to isync happiness.
THANK YOU for your generosity and kindness!
Love,
Alia
Okay, actually, I just edited it in Word, but hey, it worked!
Hi James, please, change the status of Nokia 2660 plugin. It’s working very very well in my Leopard with iSync.
Thank you so much about your job. Is amazing.
Best regards from Brazil
I have updated the 2660, thanks for the feedback!
Thanks so much. I just got my nokia 6085 to work. I just followed your instruction. It was a piece of cake, really. Contacts and calendar synchronized perfectly. You made my day,
Gilles
works like a champ with the nokia 6301. thanx!

help would be good! need my calendar etc. on the phone.
thanks in advance
sorry. i forgot… i m trying to get the nokia 2630 plugin.
You are clever!
Just successfully used the Nokia 2630 plug-in.
Thank you!
Abi Hercules
Take a listen to my music if you get a mo at theeasytigers.com
5610 plugin doesn’t work.
hey, I’ve tested the 2630 plugin for a while, but I seem to be facing difficulties with syncronising certain data such as: “b-dates, type, status,…” the phones and names however don’t have any probs. neither does the iCal.
Anyone having the same problem? Or even more important, anyone knows how to solve it?
thanks in advance
Hello James.
do you have any ideas of what could be the problem with my nokia 2630?
thanks.
2865i plugin doesn’t seem to work.
it just got my silver 6233 working mit iSync 3.0.1 on OS X 10.5.4 – thank you so much! AWESOME JOB!
Thanks for this, it works great. I’m a total novice but I figured it out. Well done!
I was able to get the plist file copied into a file for a Nokia 6131 and then renamed the file – totally straightforward – but upon scanning for devices with iSync, the only message I get is “6301 is not supported by iSync”. What’s the next step to recognize, then synchronize this device? What did I overlook?
OSX 10.5.4, 6301 and iSync 3.0.2
Can you help?
I have tried the Nokia 2630 plug-in but to no avail. Well it partly works but doesn’t complete the task and registers a synch error. I must be doing something wrong! Should I be hiding the duplicate original MetaClasses.plist file?
Please help.
Thank you
Abi
I just downloaded the Nokia 2630 it could not finish the sync, it said
[Nokia 2630] There was an error pushing some changes to the phone. The synchronization may have been cancelled on the phone.
Device “Nokia 2630″ synchronization failed
Can you please help me with this?
i would aprecciated.
thx
Thank you i can sync my nokia 2630 with ical now.
THANKS!!!
I have a Nokia 2760 which your plugin worked with (Thank you very much). However is there anyway (I have no technical knowledge at all regarding macs) to enable the trasnfer of contact photos to this phone too?
James,
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I have a new Nokia 6085. I downloaded the text file. Renamed it MetaClasses.plist and put it in the Nokia 6131 plugin folder. I tried to sync with the folder named 6131 and then figured I had to rename that folder 6085. In any case, my phone is detected by the computer, but it says “this device is not supported.”
Thanks!
What about nokia 5000? Would any of this plugins work? Which should I try? Thank you. (I think this mobile is a 40 series too)
Sync now works fine with my new 3109 classic (iSync3.0, OS X 10.5, Intel iMac), even with multiple phonenumbers, email-addresses, websites, addresses etc! Was almost giving up finding a syncing phone without camera, using my old S55 for the rest of my life…
Thanks very much, James!
can anyone get me one for the new Nokia 3600 SLIDE.
please …pelase…please…
Thank you, thank you, thank you – Nokia 2630 and iSync on Leopard are now happy together.
Hi,
I’m planning to buy a NOKIA 2600. I need a simple phone, but i’d really like to be able to use the simplest way (iSync?) to sync all my Addressbook and iCal info with my cellphone BOTH WAYS. Can this phone do that or do i need to buy another one?
It seems SonyEriccson and Samsung don’t provide syncing with Apple, only PC…
Thanks for helping me out.
)
ps: i don’t know if this is the right place for this kind of question, but i assure you: when you’re completely new to blogs and such, you surf around for half an hour befopre you even find a place to type a question
Tom
Just managed to sync a 2630, only contacts though, but that was all I needed. Thanks a million.
Lucas
no luck with nokia 6101 unless i’m doing something wrong…
replacing all with 6101 throughout the list.
no luck.
‘no devices found’
I successfully synced everything from my MacBook to my Nokia 2630 – contacts and Calender appointments – the lot! Very simple and straightforward and clearly explained for the IT illiterate!
Thanks for your help
works great with Nokia 6234! Thank you!
My heart sank when I realised I had bought a non-iSync compatible nokia 2630, especially as I thinks it’s a pretty good and reasonably priced phone. So thanks James, the plug-in works fine for me.
Thank you for this plug-in, it works beautifully… I only wish I had found it BEFORE sending an extremely snotty email to Nokia customer support, using the word “update” in quotation marks at least three times (as in “I would have thought, since the 7373 is an “updated” version of the 7370, it would have MORE features, not less”).
I must remember to Google before I speak.
hey just synced with a nokia 6301!! woot!! thanks a lot- life just got a little better
Don´t work with my 6288 and iSync 3.0.2 now
UUUUppssss
I can’t seem to find the script to generate a plugin for the 3120 classic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve never changed anything on any computer, nor posted to any blog, but I am so happy you had this fix for my Nokia 6085 that I just have to say thank you, thank you, thank you — worked perfectly, much to my amazement!!
I’m trying the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic. Seems to be working at first but now it will constantly stop the sync in the middle and failed. Not sure why. I could erase all contacts on the phone and then sync again that would work. But that’s quite inconvenient however.
Thanks a ton! You just saved me 10 euroes. Your file works like a charm for my nokia 6233 on os X 10.5.x
James,
Thanks for the great post. While my 3120 classic wasn’t listed, I was able to modify one of the plugins you provided to get it to work.
If you want to add the 3120 classic to your list, please feel free to grab the modified file from:
http://www.paulmc.org/whatithink/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/3120c.txt
Thanks for the sterling work.
Best regards,
Paul.
Thank you so much! 3109c now works fine with iSync!
thank u so much
it works perfectlly with Nokia 2630

Hmmm. I’ve tried installing the 6085 plugin a couple of times and I still can’t get it to work.
Nokia 6085
This device is not supported by iSync.
What I did was
Stopped iSync.
I copied and renamed my 6555.phoneplugin to 6085.phoneplugin.
Then I replaced the MetaClasses.plist file in the new 6085 directory under Contents/Resources.
Started iSync.
Went to Devices>Add device.
What am I doing wrong?
I just tried it with the 6131 as indicated above and it still didn’t work.
I was able to get the 5610 plug-in to work, but did have to a search and replace of 5610 with 5610 XpressMusic. Thanks a bunch for the plug-in.
David
The untested script works fine for nokia 6280. many many many thanks!
Thanks very much! The script worked fine for my 2760. Manuel
When installed on July 27, 2008, this software worked great on my Nokia 6085, but has now stopped working. Now it won’t complete the sync. If I just try to sync contacts (a relatively short list), on my Mac I get the message
[Nokia 6085] The connection was lost while talking to the phone.
Device “Nokia 6085″ synchronization failed
The phone indicates that it sent all the contact data to the Mac, but did not get anything back.
More odd is when I try to also sink my calendar (more data to transfer). Then things seem to start okay on both devices, but the phone actually winds up powering off before the sync completes!
I tried deleting my MetaClasses.plist and reinstalling the one from your website, but that did not affect the above behavior.
For Nokia 5000: (tested and working)

An easy and very generic method to make a Nokia plugin for yourself:

Good Luck!
do u have a isync plugin for nokia 5000. if yes please post it.
thanks very much.
Yeah. Thanks to paulmc and James Lloyd I can sync my Nokia 3120c now. Great work guys….
Hi, using the original script for 5610 XpressMusic and applied fifibrindacier’s hack: replace “nokia nokia 5610″ with “nokia nokia 5610 XpressMusic”, worked charmly with my new 5610 XpressMusic phone. Thanks guys!!!
hi there, my nokia 5610 sync halfway and failed. i did the “nokia+nokia 5610″ to “nokia+nokia 5610 XpressMusic” somehow there is a plus sign (+) between the nokia nokia, should that be remove? thanks.
Thanks! This got my mom’s Nokia 6085 to work with her Mac mini. It works great now.
Thank you! This helped me a lot to sync the nokia 2760 to a mac
I am trying to sync with iSync via bluetooh to a Nokia 6555… how does this script work? When i run it in apple script it says it has a ton of syntax errors. I’d really appreciate some help! thanks.
I am going nuts here … where IS the script? What are the instructions for using your great work? I have read all pages 10 times now, as well as 5-6 other homepages that link to you. I am unable to locate the actual script on any page here, and unable to find any downloads except the prefacbricated XML files for various phones. I am browsing with Firefox 3 and Safari. What am I missing????????

works fine in my 5310 mac leopard 10.5.2
great job .thanks!!!!
Thank you, James,
The plugin works for my Nokia 6085 as well. iSync-ing went impeccably. Albeit I won\\\’t have this mobile phone for more than a month — I just handed my SonyEricsson K800i in for a repair and got the Nokia 6085 as a temporary replacement — I will still admit that you saved my day and many more to come.
If you ever come to Silkeborg, Denmark, there\\\’s a big beer waiting for you!

really i need an help with nokia 5220 Xpress music pls help me ç_ç
Thanks. Works perfect with Nokia 2630
Nokia 6301 plugin does not work with my iSync 3.0.2. The sync stops at 152 entries every time.
Thank you so much for this job!!!
Thank you so much for this grate job! Works fine on my nokia 2660.
Any chance of writing something to synchronize the NOKIA 5220?
Nokia 6301 plugin works divinely so far… will note you of any issues… kudos…

7370 doesn’t seem to work, thanks though
I have tried with a Nokia 2630 and it works perfectly!!!
Thank you very much!!!
Nokia 5610 Plugin don’t work
Nokia 2760 worked beautifully for me. Thank you very much!
The plug-in works perfectly, but there’s only a little issue: when I try to sync the image of one contat in Addres Book it doesn’t never sync on the cellphone (Nokia 2630)… however thanks a lot you make my day!
Nokia 6301 — works reliably only with the calendar.
I HAS worked with phone entries but stopped after I backed-up on a PC with Nokia suite and/or edited the phonebook with the PC suite module. Willy (entry 304) writes that his sync stops at 152. Mine stopped at 72 or 79 depending on the state of my phonebook at the time. So it seems that the PC suite is making entries incompatible with the xml description provided above.
Nokia 6301 — works reliably only with the calendar : update
Apparently, the problem comes after making a *BACKUP* on a PC with Nokia’s PC suite. (maybe a flag or something?).
To restore syncability between a Mac’s iSync and a Nokia 6301, start afresh:
1) delete the N6301 contact entries using the PC suite
2) remove the N6301 device from iSync
3) reinstall the N6301 device
Worked for me
I feel like a right dufus what with all the above guys with the 2630s working through this, but I can’t get this to work. Every time I try to add my Nokia 2630 to iSync 2.4 it goes “iSync cannot connect to this device”, despite me pairing it. Do I need to restart my Mac? Change what the .plist files open in (default at the mo: TextEdit)? Rescan my phone? Any help grateful.
Hi I have been using your plug in with nokia 6085 for a while on 10.4.11 but I had a crash and then it would not recognise the phone as being usable , so I upgraded to 10.5 .5 on a new hard disk and immigrated my data . tried the instructions above five times and no luck still told it does not accept the phone?
please help ?

The scrip is fully compatible with my nokia 6151
Thanks!
Thank you, works perfect with Nokia 2630!
Hi there. I just got a new nokia 2630, cheap and cheerful, but since it had bluetooth, i figured i’d find a way to sync it with isync. The script here didn’t work for me. When adding a device in isync, it recognises the phone as V630i, and says it cannot connect to that device. I’ve successfully synced other nokias to this machine, by doing a search & replace on another nokia pref file. Anyone know is there a manual installation method for the 2630? Thanks, John.
oops, sorry it works now! I hadn’t set up the phone properly on the computer.
6500C worked great, however, the download (from Michael Legnered (http://legnered.com/)) needed to be put in the folder
referenced on THIS page, not the one instructed on ML’s page.
Hi! Thanks for your work! I’m trying it on my Nokia 2760. Contacts works fine, but there are problems with the calendar as not all of it comes in (from iCal to phone).
Good evening,
I am writing because the plug provided on your site for the Nokia 2630 does not work with iSync 3.0.2 comes with the OSX 10.5.5
It is there a solution or another plug for this phone?
Thank you in advance

To sync with Nokia 5220 XpressMusic just use the 5310 XpressMusic http://blog.james-lloyd.com/mytools/nokia/5310XpressMusic.txt and Find and Replace 5310 with 5220. Worked like a charm.
You’re brilliant! 5220 works ace with 5310 when replacing the respective numbers. thanks so much!!!
can’t believe they don’t support their products properly.
Recently I modified one of your plugins and got isync to work with nokia 6600 slide and nokia 7390. thanks for your plugins!
Well I must be doing something very wrong! installed plug in as suggested. My Nokia 6085 connects by bluetooth but I still get the message “This device is not supported by iSync”. What might I be doing/not doing!
Duh… Restarted iSync and it worked like a dream. Sorry to bother you. Brilliant stuff. Well done
Works a treat on my Mac (OS X 10.5.5) syncing via bluetooth to my Nokia 2630. Thanks!
Hi folks,
Having some problems. I have iSync 3.0.2 (574.0), a PowerBook G4 running Mac OSX 15.5.5 and the Nokia 2630. I followed instructions step by step and I’m able to sync my iCal fine but not the contacts. It always fails even when I tried syncing just 6 contacts.
I tried several things:
-Restarting iSync and my laptop.
-Merging the data.
-Erasing the phone data and overriding.
-Syncing many contacts at once, all contacts, or just a handful.
NOTHING WORKED. Always got the following message:
Saturday, December 13, 2008 1:21 AM
[Nokia 2630] An unexpected error occurred.
Device “Nokia 2630” synchronization failed.
Any ideas?
6102i script not working for me, I will post more if I find another solution.
I installed your plugin in OSX 10.5.6, and now I can connect and synchronize my Nokia 6233 with iSync.
Many thanks!!!
perfect for Nokia 3109
Hi James,
First of all, thanks for this great work. I have used your script for the 2760 and it works really fine.
Now I am looking for a script for the 2680 slide which I just offered to my girlfriend.
Have you got any plan to do a script for this one??
Also, I was wondering if I could use the script of the 2760 as the menus of the 2760 and the 2680 are very similar, knowing I should probably add a section to the script… But there, how to do it??? Can you give an advice on how to patch a script in order to make it compliant with a new phone… It would be great!!!
Thanks for your work, anyway…
Cheers,
Al

If you’re interested in setting up a 7210 Supernova with Isync, here’s a diff for /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/Contents/PlugIns/Nokia-7370.phoneplugin/Contents/Resources/MetaClasses.plist

Ensure you sync from the default screen and not in contacts or calendar – but I think this is a usual caveat.
Hi!
I have a Nokia Xpress Music 5310. Am I Supposed to use iSync in order to transfer music from my iTunes to my phone?
Nokia 7390 work perfect on Leopard.
Thanks!
I found a way to sync with 5220 XpressMusic. I used the 5310 Xpressmusic plugin and changed every 5310 in the file to 5220. I also renamed the folder and tiff file. Hope this works for you too.
Hi All –
Any way to have the 5310 synch ONLY the requested contacts? I seem to always get the whole address book instead of the selected group.
Suggestions? Know some mods I need to make to the file? Help? Anyone?
Hello James,
I used you’re script for me mobile nokia 3109 classic with isync v 3.02
It’s working perfectly with my contacts.
But i don’t get my appiontments (agenda) synced
Can you tell me what’s going wrong.
With kind regard
Michel
Thanks, 6301 plug in works perfectly. All I did was copy the 6131 folder, change the name to Nokia-6301.phoneplugin, and then replaced the MetaClasses.plist with your file, works just the same.
Grazie 1000, sto usando lo script sul nokia 2630 con isync 3.0.2 e funziona alla perfezione!THANKS
At first I thought it didn’t work on my Nokia 263o but it was just a matter of restarting iSync.
Thank you very much for this plugin.
All the best.
Awesome work, thank you so much. Nokia 6085 Works with Leopard.
hi there, I am trying to isync with my 5610 and it doesn’t work completely. it transfer half way then froze. Anyidea?
To the person who said sync-ing the 7210 supernova with iSync was possible,
Can you lay out more detailed instructions? I’m new to this sort of thing. Or if you made a file and submitted it to this site, I’m sure many others would be very grateful! Thanks!
Hi, thank you for sharing this information with the world!
I have a Nokia 2680 slide and tried it with the 2660 plugin but had no luck…
Does anybody has any ideas on how to get it to work?
Thank you!
Hi James,
Isync plugin for Nokia 2630 works perfectly.
Thank you so much.
I did not find plug-in for nokia 7280, could you please help me. Thanks before.
hi Man,
2630 plugin works perfect!
James=Legend
6500c now syncs beautifully. many thanks
Thaks, the plugin is great! I wrote a short guide to configuring iSync and the Nokia 5310 that may be helpful for other readers:
http://www.5310mobilephone.com/syncing-the-nokia-5310-with-a-mac-and-isync/
Brilliant. Thank you so much.. Your a STAR.
Got it to work with my Nokia 2630
Hey
Just one question, I have 2 nokias and I need both to work at the same time, if I download one text and install it will it render the other useless ? How do I get 2 to work at the same time ?
Kind regards
Jakob
6233 plugin does not work for me.
“iSync does not manage this device”
Any idea ?
I’m on MacOSX 10.4.11 with iSync 2.4
hello!
.
first: thanks for all the work you put in this site! it is really a great thing!
i use the plugin for my nokia 2630. in the beginning i encountered the same problem as others here (isync stopping the sync without all data being synced). i finally got it to work – i was stubborn enough to restart the sync until it had all data synced; i am not sure, if this is the right way to work this problem, but it worked for me…
Now I have all my data synced but I have the problem that ical-dates that last a whole day (like bdays) are displayed in the phone as dates from 1:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m. Is there any way I can change this?
i use the nokia 2630, mac os x 10.5.6 and isync 3.0.2
cheers,
annika
After following instalation indications, computer and phone (Nokia 2760) recognize each other. After initiating isync it transfers agenda and it starts transfering contacts, but it stops when it gets to 64 contacts. The process freezes sometime and then connection is lost. I have tried several times with the same result. Would it be possible I am doing something wrong?
Work great with Nokia 3109c !
Thank you !
Fonctionne très bien avec le Nokia 3109c !
Merci !
